Collecting NFT Items

After signing the message to enter a Space and/or following its dedicated Installation Instructions, you should now be automatically directed to where that Space’s external application is hosted –– in the case of Space Lasers, a new window on WebGL; in the case of Nyric, the external app you just downloaded onto your computer.\ \ To start collecting items in NYRIC, follow the instructions dictated to you by the experience’s in-game tutorial and adorable quest-giving Faebot that will challenge you to collect, craft, and interact with items inside the AI-generated environments you create.\ \ Once you have completed all of the Quests/challenges given to you in the world you have generated, you will be prompted to mint a Unique World Item from the game and bring it into your account on the LAMINA1 Hub. \ \ See below for a Tips & Tricks video from the Lovelace team that will walk you through the experiences and how to successfully collect NFT Items in the game.

\

If you have any issues collecting your in-game NFTs while playing Nyric, contact the game developers directly at https://lovelacestudio.com/feedback/.

To start collecting items in Space Lasers, start by clicking through the introductory screens that help set some context for the experience you’re about to play: an arcade-style shooter game where you can earn and equip NFT weapons that help you shoot down enemies and score higher in the game.

Your first laser (Blue) in “Space Lasers” is free when you start the experience. You can equip it by selecting ‘Continue’ in the ‘Rewards’ screen after accepting the game’s initial challenge.

Once the experience begins, use your arrow keys or ‘A’ and ‘D’ to move left and right. Left-click on your mouse/trackpad, or hit the spacebar to shoot a laser beam at an enemy.

Your mission in the game is simple: Shoot down as many enemy spaceships with your laser as you can and avoid enemy attacks before your spaceship is destroyed.

In “Space Lasers,” your score is displayed on the bottom left corner of your game screen. Your ship’s health or hit points are displayed on the upper left. Defeating more enemies boosts your score multiplier, but it also attracts additional enemies as the play session progresses.

Every 10 points you earn by shooting down enemies will unlock a new laser you can collect at the end of your play session. You can then equip these NFTs in the next play session to help you in your next intergalactic battle.

NOTE: Your most recent laser is cached locally. This is important if you play while switching between accounts. All the rest of the lasers you earn are stored directly on-chain.

There are six lasers total plus a special ‘Award’ NFT you can unlock in the game. To collect them all, play the game repeatedly until you reach a total score of 50 points or more. You can unlock multiple lasers in one play session (by reaching a score of 20 or 30 points on the first try, for example), but you can't collect the same laser NFT again in future play sessions once you've already obtained it.

As you’ll see in the image above, each laser you unlock has a different color, motion style, speed, and stats attributed to it. All of these in-game behaviors are driven directly in Unity by the metadata attached to each NFT – meaning the NFTs themselves drive the experience of the game.

Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple lasers also feature five original artworks designed by L1 community members – winners of the Betanet Space Lasers NFT Creator Competition we launched earlier this fall. For more information on how these NFTs were created, see the “Creating an Item” section in the L1 Users & Developer’s Guide below.

Once your ship’s HP is depleted, your play session will end and a ‘Game Over’ screen will appear over your game space showing your score from the last session, and best score while playing the game. You are welcome to ‘Replay’ the game as many times as you want to until you have collected all 7 NFTs and/or are satisfied with your score.

Right now, playing “Space Lasers” is completely free to play, and playing the game is the only way to collect NFT lasers. You cannot swap, sell, or trade any NFTs you earn in the game via the LAMINA1 Hub at this time.

NOTE: These are just two examples of how NFT gameplay could work for future LAMINA1 Spaces and applications. Other upcoming experiences could rely on a more traditional scavenger hunt-style collection model, or require you to pay L1 Betanet tokens to gear up. Again, the rules and dynamics of how NFTs are used in upcoming Spaces are entirely up to their creator/developer.
