Lamina1 Spaces: An Overview
With the virtual world expanding to include all kinds of experiences and digital Items, cross-experience object permanence and persistence will be crucial to enabling the open and interoperable metaverse Lamina1 envisions.
That said, tackling this challenge is easier said than done. Today’s “metaverse” widely consists of a series of walled-garden ecosystems, with no widespread functional approach to Item or identity interoperability. In order for Items, avatars, or user data to be published, distributed, and carried across experiences, their creators generally have to embark on expensive and time-consuming business arrangements, collaborations and co-branding initiatives, with limited scope and tangibility elsewhere across the online world.
Enter: Spaces on Lamina1.
Spaces are, at their simplest, individual metaverse storyworlds, fan communities or experiences that are interactive, interoperable, and support different types of digital Items. They are where open metaverse content is rendered, collected, engaged with and co-created.
As Lamina1 expands, Spaces will collect content across all different genres (gaming, social, commerce, fashion, entertainment, education, etc.), formats (2D, 3D, AR, VR), external access points (browser-based experiences, downloadable applications), and can be created with any toolset, coding language, or game engine of your choice.
Their interfaces may be inclusive or exclusive, meaning they can accept any kind of content or piece of content that has at least one of the properties defined in its metadata or smart contract for incorporation, or just contents that have all of the properties it sets for integration – for example, specific file types, behavior properties, or kinds of creators.
Every individual Space on Lamina1 will be entirely designed, developed, and hosted by the creators that built them. Individual Spaces will also be able to directly control which types of contents and content can be brought into them.
What unites these Spaces will be an underlying commitment to an open and interoperable metaverse that empowers users to shape their digital experiences independently of centralized control or monopolistic influences, ensuring a truly inclusive and democratic virtual realm where individual freedom and diversity thrive.
NOTE: Lamina1 Spaces are getting a major refresh on the Lamina1 Hub and will launch after the initial Mainnet onboarding period. Several new Spaces are currently under active development with our partners.
